Text Title - Tomorrow when the war begun
Author - John Marsden
This Novel is set in a small town called Wirraree in Australia. It’s about a group of friends that go on a camping trip to “Hell”. When they return they find that their pets are dead and families and friends are missing. It turns out that their country had been invaded by an unknown neighbouring country, and the citizens were being held captive at the showgrounds. The rest of the novel is mainly about the group trying to rescue their families and communicating in different ways to help each other out. In the end they group of fiends blow up a bridge heading out of town
My favorite event in the novel was when Ellie made the lawnmower bomb because it kinda tells me what type of person she is. It tells me that she is resourceful by knowing that the lady that stays at that house is a smoker and their was a lawnmower with petrol and then made a bomb. And she is also a good leader and Friend. By now knowing this I can now tell what kind of person someone is by how they think and what they do.
Something I learnt from the text is to not take things for granted and always expect the unexpected, especially when it comes to loved ones that can never be replaceable. In the novel the teens experience their families and friends being held captive. They would have never expected something like a war to happen. They would have expected to return home to everyone home and safe and nothing to have changed. An example of this in the real world would be the conflict going on between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine would have never expected Russia to come over and invade them for their land.
I rate the novel "Tomorrow when the war began" a 7/10. I'm not a big fan of reading at all, but this one was more interesting. I think it was because it was adventurous and was in Australia. Overall this story was nice and interesting. And I would really recommend it if you like reading.
A beautiful reflection. Ellie is definitely my favourite character, although I think Homer is also a good friend and leader. Have you read the second book in the series? Do you think the enemy will find them?
